Book review: Hot Pursuit by Kay Marie

Raise your hand if you love White Collar and Neal and Peter and Mosy and Elizabeth as much as I do! Okay, put it down, because I cannot see you, but leave a comment, maybe?!

Hot Pursuit.jpgAbout the book

This was what actually even got me to reading this book; the mail said this one’s a perfect read for fans for White Collar. Book #1 in the To Catch A Thief series, Hot Pursuit is the story of Jolene Carter, expert hacker and baker and daughter of a well-renowned art thief. Agent Nathaniel Parker has been on their case for years, an assignment as important to him on a personal level as on a professional one. Obviously, they meet and fall in love. But can they get their happily-ever-after?

My review

The answer to that question up there might be a little predictable but the events that lead up to it are not. The journey is happy and sad at the same time. Unpredictable twists, the humor and sarcasm, and an element of mystery all come together to keep you hooked to this one.

Although it does drag a little towards the end, the rest of it is well-paced and well-written too. Also has some amazing lines, like this one:

Speaking the words gave them life, tossed them into someone else’s hands—to either protect or throw back in his face.

Pretty well-written characters too. What I also liked how the author has, without been too melodramatic about it, so effectively conveyed the characters’ emotions—Nate’s hurt, his confusion, Jo’s excitement, her fear, her confidence, all of it.

Consider this one a fair warning though! This one’s also really heavy on the desserts that Jolene bakes and/or eats, really. So, if you are one of those who has hopped on to the no sugar challenge, read this one after you’ve slayed that challenge.

The numbers

A 4/5 for this one.
